AGC of DC: A rich history of serving DC/VA/MD
Building Washington, D.C. for Nearly a Century
Founded in 1929 as the Master Builders Association, the Associated General Contractors of Metropolitan Washington D.C. (AGC DC) has been at the forefront of the region’s construction industry for nearly a century. What began with just 18 pioneering members has evolved into a powerhouse network representing over $20 billion in construction annually.
Notably, three of our founding companies—Clark Construction Group (formerly George Hyman), DAVIS Construction (formerly Davis, Wick, Rosengarten Company), and Turner Construction (formerly Tompkins Builders)—continue to shape the skyline of the nation’s capital as some of the largest and most respected firms in the industry.
As the oldest construction association in the D.C. area, AGC DC proudly serves contractors across the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County, providing advocacy, education, and business opportunities to help our members succeed.
We are also a proud chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America, the nation’s largest construction association, further strengthening our members’ connections and resources.
